And Still We Rise was commissioned as a new installation for an entrance hallway of the Pitkin Educational Center of Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ. A sequence of suspended bird-figures in silver wire mesh fly overhead, leading students and the college community forward. The title echoes Maya Angelou’s famous poem of persistence.
