Portrait Birds
This series was directly inspired by hybrid human-bird images found across the world. My life-size portrait sculptures with bird-shaped bodies grew out of a fascination with small classical figurines like the Greek and Persian Sirens seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. My portraits are first modeled in clay and cast in cement, and the figures are built simply for outdoor durability with a quality both ethereal and earthbound.
